Of all the senses, the sense of smell is the least controlled. At the same time, we evaluate the house in which we found ourselves for the first time, often by smell: "cozy atmosphere", "I like it here", "there is something unpleasant here", etc. Women and girls say: "He has such a pleasant perfume"
As you know, our perception of smells is liked / disliked very individually, and, as a rule, is not very amenable to analysis.
However, science shows that the smell of a "happy childhood" accompanies a person's choice of preferences for the rest of his life. The most persistent connections with smells are not amenable to explanation, as a rule, the smell itself is not discussed, and remembering: "this is the smell of the house in which I lived in distant childhood" is almost not realistic if we are talking about the age of up to three years, so the most profound preferences are caused by the smells of life / situations up to 3 years. And the opposite is also true, the aromas accompanying unpleasant situations (for example, illness) are perceived as irresistibly unpleasant.
The smell of the father lays the attitude of the future woman to the smell of a man, most likely the period of not only early childhood, but also adolescence is important here, in which the hormonal system of the girl is laid. Similarly, the female smell is associated with the smell of the mother, although it is impossible to discard the smell that accompanies the period of breastfeeding of the future man.
In the first love, as in the first sexual experience, the entire subsequent sexual life is often reflected, the first man and the first woman are a kind of standards against which a comparison of all subsequent relationships takes place. This experience determines the choice of the partner's fragrance and, accordingly, can cause both sharply negative and positive connections.
In the descriptions of attitudes to different smells, it is noticeable how different the same aroma causes different feelings. When the descriptions of famous perfumes differ, you can find other explanations, but when it comes to one batch of essential oil, we have to accept the fact that we are all different people, with different life experiences, with our successes, moments of happiness and falls. In the Ayurvedic literature on aromatherapy, you can find recommendations on the effect of a particular aroma on the nervous system, but to accept or not to accept the aroma is always an individual choice.
For example, consider the vetiver. At the end of the 20th century, high fashion turned to vetiver, in the 90s its fragrance is represented in the collections of almost all leading perfume manufacturers. Its sound is played by each of the creators with different surrounding fragrances, and each time we are faced with an attempt to create an irresistible attraction of perfume. The market shows that vetiver as the leading flavor of the formula deserves the encouragement of the widest and most refined public.
At the same time, according to the Ayurvedic scheme of aromatherapy, vetiver treats depression and stress, relieves fear and helps to cope with the pain of loss, Ayurveda recognizes the aphrodisiac nature of cereal, but in no way puts it in the first place.
High fashion perfume offers its readings, but if you go to the forums, it is obvious that the vetiver is somewhat reminiscent of jasmine with its ability to highlight femininity when the smell is liked, and signal a violation of femininity. In reviews, the same brand evokes a reaction: … it's a teenager, … the fragrance of a mature man, at least over 35, like – annoys, aroma is outdated, "liquid sex", nothing sexy, only for men, "I am good" – writes the woman. Vetiver depends on many conditions, including the skin of the carrier.
Perhaps it is the vetiver that smell of men's fashion, in which our associations of smell are manifested, laid down during life, or perhaps just a well-chosen example.
